The Centre is undertaking a mapping exercise of psychological therapies, including counselling services, in Northern Ireland in 2007, at the request of the Department of Health, Social Services & Public Safety (DHSSPS).
The purpose is to find out and report upon the range and amount of psychological therapies available to members of the public in Northern Ireland. This work will provide a basis for planning and service development.
We plan to have the first main report with the DHSSPS in the autumn of 2007.
Stage One: Work is almost complete on mapping the availability of courses provided by Universities, Colleges and others in Northern Ireland and the near counties of the Republic of Ireland.
Stage two: A questionnaire for Health and Social Care Trusts has been sent to each Trust for completion by each team or department which provides psychological therapy services. A copy of the questionnaire can be downloaded from here.
Stage Three will involve the mapping of services provided by the voluntary, community and private sectors.
Stage Four will involve the mapping of services provided within or associated with Family Doctor Services.
